Ancient Buddha Relics


	I took pleasure in opening a special display on behalf of the Premier of Buddha relics held recently at the Perth Town Hall.			Many of the Buddha relics, which are currently touring the world, were more than 2,500 years old.

Burrendah Primary School


	I recently represented the Minister for Water at a special ceremony at the Burrendah Primary School to acknowledge their Waterwise Program.			Science specialist teacher Sherryl Crouch, Dr Nahan, school councillors Jessica Mac and Jacob England and Principal Jayne Ebsworthy with the school's Waterwise folder.

Shelley Resident Turns 100


	Mrs Jean King, who taught ballroom dancing for more than 80 years, shows Dr Nahan she can still dance at 100 years old.			Mrs King had five generations of her family attend the special afternoon tea that was held to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Herald Avenue Senior's Quiz Night


	Mayor Delle Donne and Dr Nahan attended the presentation of a $250,000 cheque by Minister Faragher to Mr Boothman from the Perth Region Natural Resource Management to help reduce nutrient pollution entering the Canning River.			Dr Nahan and his staff attended the recent Herald Avenue Senior Citizen's Quiz Night. Although some of the questions proved to be a challenge, they managed to have a great time and to come in third overall.

Parkwood Primary Anzac Ceremony


	Several young students read out their own personal tributes that they had written at the Anzac Ceremony.			Dr Nahan joined the students to lay a wreath in memory of all the military personnel who have served Australia.

Public Library Funding Increased


	Armadale Librarian Patricia Walker, Dr Nahan and Riverton Librarian Judi Willmott listen as the Minister for Culture and the Arts announces the increase in public library funding.			Dr Nahan and Minister John Day at the Riverton Library where the Minister announced that the public library funding would also be indexed to the CPI for the next three years.

Dr Mike Nahan joined City of Canning Library Service Manager Judi Willmott and Mayor Joe Delle Donne at the Riverton Library to lend his support for ongoing public library funds to meet community expectations.

Chinese Photography Delegation


	Dr Nahan recently hosted a lunch for a Chinese photography delegation that was visiting WA to take photos for an exhibition in China. This is one of their shots of the Pinnacles.			The delegation visited many places in Western Australia and were particularly taken with our rugged coastline as this photograph of the sea rushing over rocks shows.

WA Chinese Chamber Commerce Migrant Story


	Dr Neale Fong, Dr Nahan and Dr CV Raj all spoke on their migrant story with WACCC President Jimmy Yong.			Dr Nahan addresses members of the WA Chinese Chamber of Commerce about his own migrant story.

	Dr Nahan with ESL teacher Nanette Coleman and the students learning about kite making.			Dr Nahan talks with some of the young students about their kite making.

Southlands Willetton Rotary Fair


	Dr Nahan and the young Aboriginal dance troupe that performed the opening ceremony of the fair.			Dr Nahan joined members of the community and the young Aboriginal dancers in the smoking ceremony.

Community Safety Concerns


	Residents met near the corner of Hossack Avenue and Willeri Drive to discuss their safety concerns about the number of crashes at that intersection.			Mayor Joe Della Donne and five City of Canning Councillors plus a representative from my office attended to talk to the community members.

Student Wins State Worldskills Competition


	Rossmoyne Senior High School VET construction student Joshua Orr shows Dr Nahan the garden seat that he made to win the Worldskills Competition and a trip to Brisbane to compete in the national event.			Joshua shows Dr Nahan some of the other wood items he has made as part of his VET construction course at Rossmoyne Senior High School.

	Willetton Scouts raise the Australian flag at the Rotary Club of Rossmoyne's Aussie Breakfast.			Families becoming Australian Citizens enjoy the Australia Day breakfast at the City of Canning.

205 Bus Route Deviation


	Jim Glennie, Dr Nahan, Christian Porter and Patricia Glennie celebrate the new 205 bus route through Shelley and Rossmoyne that will allow seniors from nearby retirement villages to catch the bus.			Dr Nahan took the opportunity to catch the first bus on the new route and was very pleased to see so many seniors from Shelley and Rossmoyne taking advantage of the bus.

Remembrance Day


	Dr Nahan met with secretary Dave Kelly and a constituent about the wage campaign for cleaners, gardeners and education assistants.			Dr Nahan joined the staff and students of Orana Primary School and laid a wreath at their Remembrance Day celebrations.

India's 62nd Anniversary Celebrations


	Dr Nahan addresses the crowd at the 62nd Anniversary of the Independence of India.			Colourful dancers perform at the Indian Independence celebrations.

African Community Association of WA

Roe 6 Noise Wall


	Representatives Matenui Marial, Bol Bol Cienggan and Eli Magok Manyol, the new President of the African Community Association of WA, met with Dr Nahan.			Dr Nahan talks to local resident Andy Pullen and reporter Tristan Lavalette about the low noise wall at Roe 6.

Sikh Temple Visit


	Dr Nahan and his wife Nyuk joined fellow MPs Ian Britza and Michael Sutherland and Sikh dignitaries for a visit to the Sikh Temple in Canning Vale.			It was an honour to visit the Sikh Temple and to learn more about the Sikh community and its customs.

Canning Men's Shed


	Members of the Canning Men's Shed meet three times a week to enjoy each other's camaraderie and to make wooden toys for needy children.			Canning Men's Shed organizers Eddie Hames and David Charlton with many of the wooden toys that the members have made.
